Airalo review, the parts they don't advertise
On the 3 destinations where we can compare Airalo directly, it is cheapest on none, Saily undercuts it most often. On a further 16 destinations it is the only option we price.
The biggest name. Widest country list. Has shifted most of its catalogue to unlimited plans.
What to know before you buy
- Unlimited throttles at roughly 3GB/day. Unlimited plans are widely reported to throttle around 3GB/day. Airalo does not publish a single figure. (reported, not published by Airalo.)
- No phone number. Data only, so SMS verification codes will not arrive.
None of this is secret, and none of it is on their buy page. We surface it because we don't sell Airalo plans, the planner will actively rank Airalo down when one of these disqualifies it for your trip.
Where Airalo actually wins
On our current dataset, Airalo is not the cheapest option on any of the 3 destinations we can compare head to head. That does not make it a bad product, coverage, activation experience and network quality all matter, and none of those show up in a price table, but on price alone, something else wins every time.
Read that number carefully. 3 destinations is a thin sample, too thin to call a verdict. Most of our destinations currently carry a single provider, so there is simply nobody to compare against. Broadening that is the top priority on our own list.
